Dear Members

I am pleased to provide you with some good news especially since many members have been asking.

As you know, the Province is easing restrictions in communities where it is safe to do so, based on trends of key public health indicators such as lower rates of transmission, increased capacity in hospitals and progress made in testing. As a result, the Region of Peel opens into Stage 2 effective 12:01 a.m. June 24, 2020.

In light of this good news, the City of Mississauga has informed its community tennis clubs that:

  1. Doubles tennis can be played with members from other households following safe distancing protocols i.e. OTA’s Stage 2 recommendations (see below).
  2. Clubs with clubhouses can still only be accessed for first aid, washroom and hand washing purposes.

It is very important that OTA rules be followed to ensure the virus does not spread. If you are playing doubles, please follow these rules:

  1. Continue to physically distance among players on the court and at the tennis facility (2 metres).
  2. Physically distance when you take water breaks.
  3. Limit sharing of balls while on court and more importantly, players should make liberal use of hand sanitizer before, during and after play.
  4. Mark your balls clearly.
  5. Cross at opposite ends of the net during change of sides.
  6. Gates internal to the club will remain open to limit touch points.

With these guidelines in mind, your Whiteoaks Executive Board implemented the online court booking system for singles, now both singles and doubles play.

Please note: The online court booking system is monitored to track member usage in case there is a need to notify Public Health for contact tracing. During this pandemic it is very important that members abide by the On-Line Court Booking Rules. Fairness and kindness are critical for all members during the pandemic.

In addition, the Whiteoaks club attendants and board volunteers will continue to maintain a high standard of cleanliness at the clubhouse, including all touchpoints, surfaces and washrooms. Note: If there is no club attendant on duty, washrooms will be closed.

We trust that you will continue to abide by these guidelines to ensure that no one in our tennis community contracts covid19.

Sincerely

Whiteoaks Park Tennis Executive Board
