2023 Beginning of the Season News

The 2022 season for members of the Whiteoaks Park Tennis Club ends on February 28th. This update will provide you with information before registration for 2023 begins on March 1, 2023.

Court Reconstruction and Impacts
The City of Mississauga recommended to your Board that court reconstruction begin in the spring of 2023 and we agreed. Instead of 3 courts as first communicated, courts 1 through 5 will be reconstructed. It is anticipated that the upgraded courts will be available in early July but unexpected events and the weather could delay the use of the new courts.
.
Impacts:
As you can appreciate, this means that only courts 6, 7 and 8 will be available for member use. Your ability to book courts will be reduced from 3 to 2 advanced rolling bookings per week until all courts are again available.

Membership fees along with the club membership cap of 1,100 remain the same as in 2022, in view of this inconvenience.

The club has active membership participation in both the Lakeshore and Intercounty Leagues. We have requested that HOME matches be scheduled for the second half of the season so that the first matches are played at the opponent’s respective clubs. Your captain will be in touch with you to provide further details about tryouts and practices.

Club House Leagues will be delayed until all courts are available again. Once the courts are finished, we look forward to resuming this program, which is always great fun.  Further details will come as the season progresses.

The doubles and singles ladders will continue to run but with adjustments to the ladder rules to ensure fairness. Once all courts are again available, you will be advised of the revised rules.

Last, the 3 round robins i.e. Women (Wednesday mornings), Men’s (Thursday evenings) and Mixed (Friday evenings) will continue. The women’s round robin is temporarily moved to Wednesday morning as all 3 courts will be available. It will change back to Friday mornings once all 8 courts are again available. In addition, the two Intercounty 55+ teams will be allowed to use the 3 courts on Thursdays for 2 hours in the morning.  This is a low court usage time.

Member Responsibilities
The club is managed by volunteers who form your Executive Board. But it’s up to you to ensure that everyone respects and takes care of our club.  At this time, there are no further rules regarding the COVID-19 pandemic that we are required to follow but good hygiene in the bathrooms is appreciated by all members.  Respecting the club also means shutting off lights, making sure that the gate and clubhouse door(s) are closed at the end of the evening, respecting one and another at the club or alerting the Board if there is a problem. At the end of the day, any damage to the club is paid for by membership fees.

National Bank Tennis Open – Volunteers:

Some of our club members have volunteered with the Rogers, Aviva and now National Bank Cup in past years. It’s an excellent opportunity to engage with the sport we love and get to see top players up close. If you’re interested please use the link below to register for volunteering.

It’s important that you keep the club informed if your email address changes.  We have often found that the club newsletters have arrived in member “spam” files.  Please let your friends know that you received this communication from the club so they check.

If the email in your membership account has changed, please contact membership@whiteoaksparktennis.com and provide your new email BEFORE registration opens on March 1st.   Your account will be updated and you may login with the new email you provided. .
